Cameron Pass, CO, Sunday, January 18th, 2004 - Jon Speare

We skied a backcountry area called Cameron Pass yesterday. It's about
1.5 hrs from Larmie and is wedged between the Colorado State Forest and
Rocky Mountain National Park about 65 miles west of Fort Collins. The access
is pretty easy. We parked in a parking area near the top of the pass and
followed the well used trail up to a north-south running ridge. There are a
lot of places to drop in off the ridge the further south you go. We skied
the closest (since I wanted to get back in time to catch the end of the Pats
game) skiable part of the ridge and were treated to a few inches blown in on
top of tracked up windpack. Not ideal but it was fun with plenty of views
and more terrain to check out. .
