Hi Steve, yeah, there’s definitely less snow on Mont L’Entrepide than what I can see in that first picture from your report. Those patches are still there though – we did a quick crossing to that first big patch on the descent, and it’s narrowed a bit, but still descends about a third of the way down Mont L’Entrepide. We skied that and then it was about a 5 minute walk to the car. The snow is definitely a bit lean this May compared to most seasons, but it’s nice to still have enough out there for plenty of turns.

Nice report! Haynes still looks about the same width as last week though I bet there isn’t much left on Mont L’Entrepide — last weekend it was snow/grass skiable all the way to the car last weekend.

Thanks for stopping in Harv; that was a nice big dump of snow. I went back out this past Friday to find some great midwinter snow, and then on Saturday with E and the boys, and the snow wasn’t quite up to the level of Friday when it was fresh, but still dry above 2,000’ so there was still some nice powder. It was neat to see the "Spring Awakening at Seven Springs, PA” report at your site; that’s cool that they opened up for that storm. Matt has some nice articles – “Chic Chocs, QC: The Long Road to Paradise” was nice; hopefully he can get back there for more skiing.

Yeah, I was referring generally to Sugarbush and Jay Peak. Being in Waterbury, it’s only a bit over an hour to Killington, but I don’t quite think of it as one of the local Burlington/Waterbury resorts. Still, with their traditionally long season, we usually try to pop down there for a day in the spring, depending on when the closer resorts close. Temperatures have returned to more seasonable levels now though, and we’ve been getting some minor storms with snowfall, so the snow isn’t really going anywhere. I don’t think Sugarbush will have to worry about their opening based on available snow; it will probably be a financial decision. That seems like the way it has been with some of the other resorts as well; due to the stretch of warmth, people just seem to have lost interest in skiing this spring, or at least interest in skiing what’s available. There’s still plenty of snow at places like Stowe even though they aren’t running the lifts – Powderfreak sent in a Stowe trip report from yesterday and was also back out on the mountain today.

There's plenty of snow available since temperatures have been seasonable and the precipitation in the mountains has been snow, but lift operations are definitely starting to become limited; hopefully you can get those turns!

Other local areas? Are you talking Sugarbush (who’s hoping for next weekend), Jay or Kmart? Unless you drive out of state or country, those are the only places with lifts that might spin.

I’m also looking at my options for next weekend as I’ll be in Vermont on Saturday.

Nice Corn Day… I love those days. Unfortunately not much corn left. It was a cleaning and catching with backlog of stuff weekend as my youngest (9) didn’t want to ski 2 hours away in the Laurentians on Sunday (also rain was forecast at 60%). Hoping I’ll get a few turns next weekend when I hit the border.
